Known as The Beast of LBL to some and the Land Between the Lakes Dogman to others, this wolf-like cryptid has stories and sightings dating back decades. Tales of the creature swirl around the infamous “LBL Massacre” of the 1980s and an encounter by a retired law enforcement officer in the 1990s.
Alleged sightings put The Beast at over seven feet tall and able to move as swiftly on two legs as well as four throughout the 171,000-acre national recreation area. Only a few have claimed to see The Beast and lived to tell the tale, but countless hikers and campers have heard its chilling howl.
